     On page 8, line 5, increase the public safety and education account appropriation by $25,000

     On page 8, after line 17, insert the following: A(4)$ 25,000 of the public safety and education account appropriation is provided solely  for the implementation of Substitute Senate Bill No. 5744 (regarding providing for the representation of parties in child dependency and termination proceedings).  If the bill is not enacted by June 30, 1999, the amounts provided in this subsection shall lapse.@

EFFECT: Provides funding for legislation requiring the Office of Public Defense to study and evaluate the costs of legal representation of parties in dependency and termination hearings.

FISCAL IMPACT:  Increases Other Funds by $25,000.
