On page 93, after line 25, add a new subsection:
A(cc) $9,000,000 of the general fund-state appropriation is provided solely for enhanced compensation for teachers of mathematics, science, and technology to be distributed through a methodology developed by the superintendent and, prior to distribution, reviewed by the house and senate policy and fiscal committees.@
On page 136, line 35, decrease the general fund--state appropriation for fiscal year 2000 by $2,800,000.
On page 136, line 36, decrease the general fund--state appropriation for fiscal year 2001 by $6,200,000.
On page 137, line 2, correct the total accordingly.
On page 138, line 3, strike A$103,686,000" and insert A$100,886,000"
On page 138, line 4, strike A$114,700,000" and insert A$108,500,000"
On page 139, beginning on line 34, strike all material through line 17 on page 141.
Renumber remaining subsections consecutively.
EFFECT: Eliminates the Washington Promise Scholarship program for a reduction of $9 million GF-S, and provides $9 million GF-S for salary increases for math, science and technology teachers.
FISCAL IMPACT: None.
