Background: Registered tow truck operators are allowed to collect the costs of towing, storage, or other services rendered during the course of towing, removing, impounding, or storing impounded vehicles.

Summary of Bill: Registered tow truck operators are allowed to charge the registered owner of an impounded vehicle for tolls and ferry fares paid during the towing, removing, impounding, or storing of an impounded vehicle.

Appropriation: None.

Staff Summary of Public Testimony: PRO: Although the amount of money involved is small – only a few thousand dollars a year – it would be more appropriate for registered owners to pay for necessary tolls and ferry fares incurred.
