     On page 4, beginning on line 10, after "within" strike "one hundred fifty feet" and insert "a reasonable distance"

     On page 6, after line 18, insert the following:
     "(5) The department may develop and implement an online training course for persons that register wheeled all-terrain vehicles and utility-type vehicles for use on a public roadway of this state. The department is granted rule-making authority for the training course. Any future costs associated with the training course must be appropriated from the highway safety account and any fees collected must be distributed to the highway safety account.

     On page 8, line 9, after "(ii)" strike all material through "46.37.525" and insert "Two tail lamps meeting the requirements of RCW 46.37.050"

     On page 8, line 12, after "46.37.070" insert "(1)"

     On page 8, line 14, after "(iii)" strike "A stop lamp meeting the requirements of RCW 46.37.200" and insert "Two stop lamps meeting the requirements of RCW 46.37.070(1) and 46.37.200"

     On page 8, line 19, after "attached" strike "to the handlebar" and insert "on the right and left handlebars"

     On page 8, line 30, after "in" strike "working order" and insert "accordance with RCW 46.37.351"

EFFECT:  (1) Changes the distance for the direct supervision of an unlicensed operator from one hundred fifty feet to within a reasonable distance.
     (2) Authorizes the department of licensing to develop and implement an online training course for persons who register wheeled all-terrain vehicles and utility-type vehicles for use on a public roadway of this state.
     (3) Changes the equipment requirements for wheeled all-terrain vehicles from one stop and tail lamp to two stop and tail lamps; the two tail lamps must be used at all times when the vehicle is in motion.
     (4) Changes the one handlebar mirror requirement on a wheeled all- terrain vehicle to having a mirror on both the right and left handlebars.
     (5) Requires that a wheeled all-terrain vehicle meet the performance ability of brakes for motor vehicles currently in statute.
