HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 4672, by Representatives Blake and Takko

     WHEREAS, At an election held Tuesday, June 16, 1914, there were 112 votes cast, of which 96 votes were in favor of incorporation of the territory known as the Village of Westport into the Town of Westport; and
     WHEREAS, The State of Washington officially declared and recognized the incorporation of the Town of Westport on June 26, 1914; and
     WHEREAS, The City of Westport is home to the 107-foot Grays Harbor Lighthouse, which was dedicated in 1898 and is the tallest lighthouse in Washington and the third tallest lighthouse on the West Coast; and
     WHEREAS, The City of Westport is the home of the Port of Grays Harbor--Westport marina; and
     WHEREAS, The City of Westport is the homeport for many commercial fishers and commercial seafood processing plants; and
     WHEREAS, The City of Westport is known for the design and production of world class yachts; and
     WHEREAS, The City of Westport is known for charter boat fishing, whale watching, surfing, and bird watching; and
     WHEREAS, The City of Westport is regarded as a popular Washington State tourism location hosting many coastal attractions, festivals, and events on the South Beach of Grays Harbor County; and
     WHEREAS, The City of Westport is the home of Coast Guard Station Grays Harbor; and
     WHEREAS, One hundred years later, the City of Westport is preparing to recognize its 100th Anniversary;
     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the members of the Washington State House of Representatives recognize the City of Westport's 100th year anniversary and the many attributes it contributes to the betterment of its community and the State of Washington.
