Improves and expands access to computer science education.

Requires high school and school district boards of directors to approve AP computer science courses as equivalent to high school mathematics.

Requires the office of the superintendent of public instruction to allocate grants to certain school districts to increase the number of courses coinstructed by computer science professionals.

Requires the workforce training and education coordinating board to convene and provide staff support for a computer science professional shortage task force to develop a strategic plan to increase the number of graduates from high schools, colleges, and universities who are prepared to enter the workforce or continue their education in computer science.

Requires the office of online learning to actively seek: (1) Additional providers of online computer science courses to be made available through the office; and

(2) Funding from private or federal sources to offset the costs to school districts and students of offering and enrolling in online computer science courses made available through the office.
