    On page 1, line 18 of the striking amendment, after "metabolism." insert ""Chemical" does not include a chemical that the United States environmental protection agency has begun to evaluate in a process that is substantively similar to the chemical action plan process established in section 4 of this act."

EFFECT:  Eliminates the authority of the Department of Ecology to request information about a chemical, to initiate a chemical action plan, and to issue alternative assessment orders related to a chemical's use for any chemicals that the United States Environmental Protection Agency has begun to evaluate in a process that is substantively similar to a state chemical action plan process.
