Brief Description: Modifying distillers' spirit sampling provisions.

Brief Summary of Bill

  • Allows spirits samples offered by distillers to customers to be adulterated with non-alcoholic mixers, water, and/or ice.

Background:

Licensed distillers are authorized to sell spirits of their own production to the public for off-premises consumption. Distillers are also allowed to provide customers with samples of spirits of their own production on the premises of the distillery, and may do so either for free or for a charge. Such sampling is limited to two ounces per day per person.

Summary of Bill:

Spirits samples offered to customers by distillers for on-premises consumption may be adulterated with non-alcoholic mixers, water, and/or ice.

Effective Date: The bill takes effect 90 days after adjournment of the session in which the bill is passed.
