HB 2750 - DIGEST

Requires a hospital or health care provider attending a birth outside of a hospital to obtain the written consent of a parent or legal guardian before the collection of a sample blood specimen.

Requires the department of health to: (1) Receive consent from the parent or guardian of a newborn infant before requiring screening tests of the newborn that is born in any setting;

(2) Destroy any blood specimen no later than the date that the person who is the subject of that specimen is eighteen years old; and

(3) Adopt a procedure and timetable for the destruction of blood specimens collected pursuant to chapter 70.83 RCW (phenylketonuria and other preventable heritable disorders).
