On page 7, after line 5 of the amendment, insert the following:

NEW SECTION.  Sec. 8.  "(1) This act expires if the annual targets under RCW 19.285.040(2) increase after the effective date of this section.

(2) The department of commerce must provide written notice of the expiration date of this act to affected parties, the chief clerk of the house of representatives, the secretary of the senate, the office of the code reviser, and others as deemed appropriate by the department."

Renumber the remaining section consecutively.

On page 7, beginning on line 12 of the title amendment, after "penalties;" strike "and providing an expiration date" and insert "providing an expiration date; and providing a contingent expiration date"

EFFECT: Expires the act if the annual renewable energy targets for complying with the Energy Independence Act increase after the effective date of the act.
