Brief Description: Modifying quick title service fees.

Brief Summary of Bill

  • Reduces the quick title service fee from $50 to $25 for vehicle and vessel quick titles.

  • Changes where some quick title service fees are distributed after collection.

Background:

A quick title is a certificate of title printed and received at the time of application. A vehicle or vessel owner may request a quick title by submitting an application created by the Department of Licensing (DOL) to the DOL, county auditor or other agent, or subagent. The quick title application must be submitted with evidence of vehicle or vessel ownership and a quick title service fee of $50 in addition to any other fees or taxes required by law.

Summary of Bill:

If a person selects quick title service when requesting a title for a vehicle or vessel, the quick title service fee collected will be $25.

Effective Date: This bill takes effect 90 days after adjournment of the session in which the bill is passed, except for section 4, relating to quick title fees for vessels, which takes effect July 1, 2019, and section 5, relating to quick title fees for vessels, which takes effect January 1, 2026.
