Requires completion of the following in order to take the examination for a journey level electrician certificate of competency: (1) An apprenticeship program approved under chapter 49.04 RCW; or

(2) An equivalent apprenticeship program approved by the department of labor and industries for the electrical construction trade in which the applicant worked for a minimum of eight thousand hours.

Allows the department of labor and industries to permit an applicant who obtained experience and training equivalent to a journey level apprenticeship program to take the examination if the applicant establishes that he or she has the equivalent training and experience and demonstrates good cause for not completing the required minimum hours of work.

Takes effect July 1, 2023.
