Background: Current state law declares October as disability history month. Public schools must conduct or promote educational activities that provide instruction, awareness, and understanding of disability history and people with disabilities.

State law also identifies specific days within various months that recognize certain concepts, events, and people.

Summary: September is declared to be the month of the kindergartner. Each September, elementary schools are encouraged to determine a method to celebrate new kindergartners as they begin their life in K-12 education.
