Background: The Fish and Wildlife Commission is responsible for managing the state's fish and wildlife resources and establishing basic rules and regulations governing the time, place, manner, and methods used to harvest or enjoy fish and wildlife. The Commission issues licenses, tags, endorsements, and permits for hunting and fishing in Washington, and establishes terms and conditions for issuing licenses and permits offered for sale by dealers.
Summary of Bill: The Commission must require a person selling recreational fishing licenses to post the uniform resource locator describing where the person purchasing the license may access recreational fishing rules.

Effective Date: Ninety days after adjournment of session in which bill is passed.
Staff Summary of Public Testimony: OTHER: Many dealers that sell fishing licenses are small businesses with limited space for additional signage. There are already many options available to obtain information regarding fishing regulations. Typically the fishing pamphlet is already available, and the department has a new free mobile application that has real-time information. The URL with access to the department's fishing regulations is also printed on each fishing license that is sold. The department is moving towards a more electronic-based platform, and this requirement is not necessary at this time.
