SB 5193 - DIGEST

Finds that: (1) Affordable housing in rural areas for essential public employees such as teachers, nurses, and other public servants is in high demand; and

(2) Rural counties are struggling to meet these demands as well as comply with the restrictions of the rural element of the growth management act.

Authorizes a county to: (1) Adopt measures to allow limited areas of more intensive rural development, which are those areas that are clearly identifiable during a comprehensive plan review of development within the jurisdiction and delineated predominately by the built environment, but may also include undeveloped lands if limited; and

(2) Establish the logical outer boundary of an area of more intensive rural development and review that boundary under the periodic review for adjustment.
