PREPROPOSAL STATEMENT OF INQUIRY

     Subject of Possible Rule Making: Chapter 388-448 WAC, related to WorkPlus. WorkPlus is a work program designed to assist general assistance clients to obtain employment and become self-sufficient. We are developing a WAC for the individual responsibility plan for general assistance clients who will be participating in WorkPlus.

     Statutes Authorizing the Agency to Adopt Rules on this Subject: RCW 74.08.090.

     Reasons Why Rules on this Subject may be Needed and What They Might Accomplish: WorkPlus is a work program designed to assist general assistance clients to obtain employment and become self-sufficient. We are developing a WAC for the individual responsibility plan for general assistance clients who will be participating in WorkPlus.

     Other Federal and State Agencies that Regulate this Subject and the Process Coordinating the Rule with These Agencies: None.

     Process for Developing New Rule: DSHS welcomes the public to take part in developing the rule. Anyone interested in participating should contact the staff person indicated below. After the rule is drafted, DSHS will file a copy with the Office of the Code Reviser with a notice of proposed rule making and send a copy to everyone currently on the mailing list and to anyone else who requests a copy. DSHS will consider all comments. The Economic Services Administration's regulatory improvement team (RIT) will also review these rules before adoption.
