EMERGENCY RULES
SOCIAL AND HEALTH SERVICES
(Medical Assistance Administration)
Date Adopted: December 24, 2003.
Purpose: To update the categorically needy income level (CNIL) SSI-related standards based on a change in federal rules. This rule will now include the SSI standards since these are being removed from WAC 388-478-0055 How much do I get from my supplement security income (SSI) and state supplemental payments (SSP)? Also removing the information regarding essential spouses since there are no longer any in Washington state.

Statutory Authority for Adoption: RCW 74.08.090, 74.09.530.
Other Authority: Section 1924 of the Social Security Act (42 U.S.C. 1396R-5).
Under RCW 34.05.350 the agency for good cause finds that state or federal law or federal rule or a federal deadline for state receipt of federal funds requires immediate adoption of a rule.
Reasons for this Finding: Under Section 1924 of the Social Security Act and as directed by the Federal Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services, the department must implement these new standards effective January 1, 2004.
