PREPROPOSAL STATEMENT OF INQUIRY

(Chiropractic Program)

     Subject of Possible Rule Making: WAC 246-808-190 Preceptor or direct supervisory doctor and 246-808-535 Delegation of services to auxiliary staff and graduate doctors of chiropractic.

     Statutes Authorizing the Agency to Adopt Rules on this Subject: RCW 18.25.0171.

     Reasons Why Rules on this Subject may be Needed and What They Might Accomplish: The Washington State Chiropractic Association attorney on behalf of several practitioners has requested that WAC 246-808-535 be amended to allow auxiliary staff and graduate doctors to supervise patients during approved therapeutic procedures, rehabilitation exercises or use of therapeutic or rehabilitation equipment. Some commission members have discussed the possibility of adding to the duties of graduate doctors and senior chiropractic students. Review and update if necessary WAC 246-808-190 Preceptor or direct supervisory doctor.

     Other Federal and State Agencies that Regulate this Subject and the Process Coordinating the Rule with These Agencies: None.
