PROCLAMATION
THE GOVERNOR

WHEREAS, Initiative 747, relating to limitations on property
taxes, was ruled unconstitutional by the Washington State
Supreme Court on November 8, 2007; and
WHEREAS, local taxing districts, cities, counties and the state
are in the process of adopting budgets and establishing
property tax levies for the residents of our state; and
WHEREAS, property taxpayers deserve consistency in the
administration and collection of taxes by all levels of
government in the State of Washington;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Christine O. Gregoire, Governor of the state
of Washington, by virtue of the authority vested in me by
Article II, Section 12 (Amendment 68) and Article III, Section
7 of the Washington State Constitution, do hereby convene the
Washington State Legislature in Special Session in the Capitol
at Olympia on Thursday, November 29, 2007, at 8 a.m., for a
period of not more than one day for the sole purpose of
enacting legislation regarding limitations on and the
administration of property taxes in the state of Washington.
