Notice of Interpretive or Policy Statement


     In accordance with RCW 34.05.230(12), following is a list of policy and interpretive statements issued by the department of social and health services (DSHS).

     Document Title: # Memo 10-04.

     Subject: Wheelchairs, durable medical equipment (DME) and supplies; and nondurable medical supplies and equipment (MSE): Transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) devices and related supplies: No longer covered and updates to DME and MSE coverage tables.

     Effective Date: April 1, 2010.

     Document Description: Effective for dates of service on and after April 1, 2010, DSHS:


• Notifies providers that TENS devices and related supplies will be noncovered for independent in-home use; and
• Updates the coverage table in the current wheelchairs, DME, and supplies billing instructions.
