Lowering of the Washington State and United States Flags
I hereby direct that Washington State and United States
flags at all state agency facilities be lowered to half-staff
Monday, April 5, 2010, in memory of U.S. Army Private First
Class James L. Miller, who died March 29, 2010, in
Afghanistan, of injuries he suffered when an improvised
explosive device detonated near his vehicle. The 21 year old
was born in Alaska, but had most recently lived in Yakima
prior to enlisting in the Army. Please notify your staff and all of your field offices
and facilities around the state.
Flags should remain at half-staff until close of business
on Monday, April 5, or first thing Tuesday morning, April 6.
Other government entities, citizens and businesses are
encouraged to join this recognition.
Please call (360) 902-0383 if you have any questions
about this flag lowering.
