By ORDER NO. 25700-A-959, dated July 8, 2010, the Court
adopted proposed amendments to CrR 3.1 - Right to and
Assignment of Lawyer; CrRLJ 3.1 - Right to and Assignment of
Lawyer, and JuCR 9.2 - Additional Right to Representation by
Lawyer. The Board of Judicial Administration (BJA) has
requested that the Court delay the effective date of the
adopted amendments to CrR 3.1, CrRLJ 3.1, and JuCR 9.2, which
all have the effective date of September 1, 2010, until such
time as Standards for Indigent Defense Services have been
promulgated and adopted by this Court. This Court having
considered the request, and having determined that the
granting of the request will aid in the orderly administration
of justice; Now, therefore, it is hereby
ORDERED:
That the previously ordered effective date for CrR 3.1,
CrRLJ 3.1, and JuCR 9.2 of September 1, 2010, is suspended
until September 1, 2011. However, if Standards for Indigent
Defense Services have not been adopted by that date, the Court
will reconsider the effective date for these rules.
