PREPROPOSAL STATEMENT OF INQUIRY

DEPARTMENT OF

FISH AND WILDLIFE

     Subject of Possible Rule Making: Game management unit boundaries; deer and elk area boundaries; deer, elk, mountain goat, bighorn sheep, moose, cougar, black bear, and turkey seasons and permit levels; special closures and firearm restriction areas; harvest reporting; trapping regulations; and private lands public access.

     Statutes Authorizing the Agency to Adopt Rules on this Subject: RCW 77.12.047, 77.12.150, 77.12.320, 77.15.280, 77.32.070, and ESHB 2438, section 1, chapter 178, Laws of 2007 (uncodified).

     Reasons Why Rules on this Subject may be Needed and What They Might Accomplish: Manage game species harvest and provide clarification and recreational opportunity.

     Other Federal and State Agencies that Regulate this Subject and the Process Coordinating the Rule with These Agencies: None.

     Process for Developing New Rule:      Agency study.
