WAC 181-01-002
WEST-B exemptions.
(1) Candidates who
are prepared and/or certified out-of-state applying for a
Washington state residency teaching certificate under WAC 181-79A-257 (1)(b) or 181-79A-260, or out-of-state candidates
applying to masters-degree level teacher preparation programs
residing outside of the state of Washington at time of
application, in lieu of passing the WEST-B, may provide
official documentation of scores on the Praxis I of 177 for
the reading subtest, 176 for the mathematics subtest and 174
for the writing subtest, or scores on the Praxis I CBT
computer-administered test of 325 for the reading subtest, 321
for the mathematics subtest, and 321 for the writing subtest,
or passing scores from California or Oregon on the CBEST or
Essential Academic Skills test.
(2) Candidates applying for a Washington state residency or professional teaching certificate under WAC 181-79A-257 (1)(b) who hold a certificate through the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards are exempt from the WEST-B requirement.
