Title or Subject: Medicaid State Plan Amendment (SPA) TN# 12-025 Applied Behavior Analysis Services.

     Effective Date: January 1, 2013.

     Description: The health care authority (agency) intends to submit medicaid SPA TN# 12-025 regarding applied behavior analysis (ABA) services. This SPA will add ABA services provided by licensed healthcare professionals or agencies to the scope of services covered by the agency under the medicaid state plan for clients twenty years of age and younger.

     Adding ABA services to the scope of covered services in the medicaid state plan is expected to increase state and federal medicaid expenditures by approximately $6.6 to $8.6 million respectively in federal fiscal years 2013 and 2014.
