Pursuant to RCW 43.30.294, the following geographic names have been adopted by the committee and filed with the State Register:
Bryant Hill: Summit; Located 1.77 km (1.1 mi) W of Stimson Hill, 6.44 km (4 mi) W/SW of Lake Cavanaugh, 11.26 km (7 mi) N of Arlington; Named for the nearby historic community of Bryant; Skagit County, WA; Sec. 36, T 33 N, R 5 E, W.M.; 48° 18' 14.255" N, 122° 6' 22.321" W. Approved 2/5/2013.
Burlap Pass: Gap; Elevation 979.93 m (3,215 ft), located in Olympic National Forest between East Fork Humptulips River and West Fork Humptulips River, 8.52 km (5.3 mi) SW of Discovery Peak; Named for David L. "Burlap" Rabey (1938-2002), a lifelong resident of Grays Harbor County who camped, hunted, and fished in the Humptulips River drainage area; Grays Harbor County, WA; Sec. 25, T 23 N, R 8 W, W.M.; 47° 27' 23.527" N, 123° 38' 59.534" W. Casperson Point: Cape; Located at the SE end of Guemes Island, 3.22 km (2 mi) NE of Anacortes; Named for Gary Casperson (1946-2006), who purchased the property in 1978 and who was a Port of Anacortes harbor master and Guemes Island ferry captain; Skagit County, WA; Sec. 8, T 35 N, R 2 E, W.M.; 48° 31' 44.032" N, 122° 34' 25.39" W. Cupacoffee Creek: Stream; 1.28 km (0.8 mi), heads 6.19 km (3.8 mi) N of the City of Centralia, flows S S/E into Coffee Creek; Named for the features small size and the fact that it flows into Coffee Creek; Lewis County, WA; Sec. 29 & 30, T 15 N, R 2 W, W.M.; 46° 46' 9.711" N, 122° 57' 42.764" W (heading), 46° 45' 37.304" N, 122° 57' 5.671" W (ending). Dickenson Cove: Cove; Located E of Dickenson Point, 4.83 km (3 mi) NE from the town of Boston Harbor; Named for Thomas Dickenson, a carpenter's mate on the 1841 U.S. Exploring Expedition; Thurston County, WA; Sec. 6, T 19 N, R 1 W, W.M.; 47° 9' 48.876" N, 122° 50' 52.685" W. Approved 7/1/2014.
Erlands Point: Cape; Located on the W shore of Dyes Inlet, 4.83 km (3 mi) NW of Bremerton; Named for Knute and Marie Erland who bought land on the point for a summer camping place beginning in 1912; Kitsap County, WA; Sec. 4, T 24 N, R 1 E, W.M.; 47° 36' 14.31" N, 122° 41' 26.167" W. Etienne Creek: Stream; 13 km (8 mi), located in Wenatchee National Forest, heads on the E slope of the Wenatchee Mountains, flows NE to enter Peshastin Creek at the N end of Windmill Point; Named for Antoine Etienne, a freed slave who lived along the stream; Chelan County, WA; Sec. 11 & 12, T 22 N, R 16 E, Sec. 7, 8, 5, 4, 3, 2, T 22 N, R 17 E, Sec. 35 & 36, T 23 N, R 17 E, W.M.; 47° 25' 4.619" N, 120° 47' 48.74" W (heading), 47° 26' 36.777" N, 120° 39' 44.51" W (ending). Ev Henry Point: Cape; Located in Sucia Island State Park, on the SE side of Sucia Island, 32.19 km (20 mi) W of Bellingham, 28.97 km (18 mi) N of Lopez Island; Named for Everett "Ev" Henry (1905-1985), yachtsman and the first commodore of the Rainier Yacht Club, who was instrumental in purchasing much of Sucia Island and donating it to the Washington State Parks Department; San Juan County, WA; Sec. 26, T 38 N, R 2 W, W.M.; 48° 44' 49.688" N, 122° 53' 45.271" W. Fairview Schoolhouse Creek: Stream; 7 km (4 mi), flows SW to enter East Fork Lewis River 3.2 km (2 mi) SE of La Center; Named for a one-room schoolhouse that once stood nearby; Clark County, WA; Sec. 11 & 12, T 4 N, R 1 E, Sec. 7, 8, 5, T 4 N, R 2 E, Sec. 32, T 5 N, R 2 E, W.M.; 45° 52' 7.093" N, 122° 35' 19.276" W (heading), 45° 50' 28.849" N, 122° 38' 43.496" W (ending). Golden Point: Cape; Located on the S coast of San Juan Island, just inside the boundary of San Juan Island National Park, E of Eagle Cove; The name is descriptive, as this point of land catches the sunset and glows with a golden hue; San Juan County, WA; Sec. 11, T 34 N, R 3 W, W.M.; 48° 27' 31.637" N, 123° 1' 40.256" W. Approved 7/1/2014.
Gossip Islands: Islands comprising of Gossip Island and Cemetery Island; Located in Reid Harbor, just S of Stuart Island; Admiralty surveyors provided the name Gossip Island on their chart #2840 in 1870. But by 1906, the Admiralty labeled the grouping as Gossip Islands on a revision to chart #2840; San Juan County, WA; Sec. 34, T 37 N, R 4 W, W.M.; 48° 39' 49.349" N, 123° 10' 25.606" W. Greenfield Creek: Stream; 1.2 km (0.75 mi) long, heads 4.83 km (3 mi) NE of the town of Boston Harbor, and flows N into Puget Sound; Named for Mrs. Greenfield, a settler in the area where the creek originates; Thurston County, WA; Sec. 6 & 7, T 19 N, R 1 W, W.M.; 47° 9' 10.54" N, 122° 50' 54.975" W (heading), 47° 9' 45.661" N, 122° 50' 53.068" W (ending). Approved 7/1/2014.
Griggs Creek: Stream; 1.6 km (1 mi) long, heads 1.6 km (1 mi) S of Highway 101, then flows N into Schneider Creek; Named for the Griggs family who were early settlers of the Kamilche area; Thurston County, WA; Sec. 33, T 19 N, R 3 W, W.M.; 47° 4' 46.343" N, 123° 4' 0.306" W (heading), 47° 5' 28.885" N, 123° 3' 52.746" W (ending). Approved 2/5/2013.
Hoke Creek: Stream; 4.67 km (2.9 mi) long, heads 4.18 km (2.6 mi) NE of Dolugall Point, flows generally SW to enter Pickering Passage 1.44 km (0.9 mi) NW of Jarrell Cove; Named for the Hoke family, earlier settlers in the area; Mason County, WA. Sec. 11, 12, 14, 23 T 21 N, R 2 W, W.M.; 47° 19' 45.762" N, 122° 53['] 2.807" W (heading), 47° 17' 44.77" N, 122° 53' 57.712" W (ending). Jacobson Creek: Stream; 0.4 km (0.25 mi) long, flows W/NW into unnamed wetlands, just W of Springer Lake; Named for Benjamin L. Jacobson (d. 1970) and Mary Jacobson (d. 2003); Thurston County, WA; Sec. 24, T 17 N, R 2 W, W.M.; 46° 56' 29.285" N, 122° 52' 48.649" W (heading), 46° 56' 32.516" N, 122° 52' 57.997" W (ending). Approved 1/7/2014.
Jordan Ridge: Ridge; 8 km (5 mi) long, located 3.22 km (2 mi) E of the community of Jordan, and to the E and N of the South Fork Stillaguamish River; Named for the nearby town of Jordan; Snohomish County, WA; Sec. 36, T 31 N, R 6 E, W.M.; 48° 8' 8.135" N, 121° 59' 7.759" W. Approved 2/5/2013.
Jump Off Creek: Stream; 2.57 km (1.6 mi) long; heads 8.85 km (5.5 mi) SW of Port Gamble, flows NW into Hood Canal 4.5 km (2.8 mi) NE of Vinland; The name refers to a construction accident in the 1920s that caused a worker to have to jump to safety; Kitsap County, WA; Secs 28, 27 & 34, T 27 N, R 1 E, W.M.; 47° 47' 18.957" N, 122° 39' 12.765" W (heading), 47° 48' 26.941" N, 122° 40' 14.931" W (ending). Kangaroo Point: Cape; located just below Sea Acres on Orcas Island; Name origin unknown, WA Board approved location clarification; San Juan County, WA; Sec. 36, T 37 N, R 1 W, W.M.; 48° 39' 1.834" N, 122° 45' 17.735" W. Approved 7/2/2013.
Lee Island: Island; Located at the mouth of False Bay on San Juan Island; Named for Emelia "Lee" Bave (d. 3/2008), who owned the property across from this island since the early 50s; San Juan County, WA; Sec. 4, T 34 N, R 3 W, W.M.; 48° 28' 41.211" N, 123° 4' 6.47" W. Approved 7/1/2014.
Longs Pond: Lake; 0.5 km² (11.5 acres), located in Woodland Creek Community Park in the City of Lacey; Named for the Long family who owned the property surrounding the lake; Thurston County, WA; Sec. 15 & 22, T 18 N, R 1 W, W.M.; 47° 2' 21.845" N, 122° 47' 29.95" W. Approved 7/1/2014.
Meyer Creek: Stream; 0.8 km (0.5 mi) long, flows S then W into Lay Inlet at the town of Rosedale; Named for Richard Benjamin Meyer who owned the property surrounding the creek; Pierce County, WA; Sec. 2, T 21 N, R 1 E, W.M.; 47° 20' 7.289" N, 122° 38' 37.579" W (heading), 47° 19' 48.319" N, 122° 39' 0.966" W (ending). Mill Pond: Lake; 0.01 km² (3.5 acres), located N of the City of Camas in Round Lake County Park; Named for the local paper mill; Clark County, WA; Sec. 47, T 1 N, R 3 E, W.M.; 45° 36' 3.813" N, 122° 24' 17.921["] W. Approved 2/5/2013.
Pleasant Creek: Stream; 1.2 km (0.8 mi) long; flows NW then W under I-205 to enter LaLonde Creek; Name is descriptive for a "peaceful and pleasant creek"; Clark County, WA; Sec. 31 & 36, T 3 N, R 2 E, W.M.; 45° 41' 48.261" N, 122° 36' 38.156" W (heading), 45° 42' 7.222" N, 122° 37' 38.558" W (ending). Reflection Creek: Stream; 5.6 km (3.5 mi) long, located NE of the City of Snohomish, heads near Jamison Corner and flows N/NE into Panther Creek; Name is descriptive for the water's reflection; Snohomish County, WA; Sec. 3, T 28 N, R 6 E & Sec. 33 & 34, T 29 N, R 6 E, W.M.; 47° 56' 35.355" N, 122° 1' 29.542" W (heading), 47° 57' 40.064" N, 122° 1' 11.125" W (ending). Rufus Creek: Stream; 1.93 km (1.2 mi) long, heads on the NE slope of Lookout Mountain, flows N/NE to enter Beaver Creek; Named for Rufus Green (d. 1962) a logger who lived along the stream for many years; Whatcom County, WA; Sec. 12 & 13, T 37 N, R 3 E & Sec. 6 & 7, T 37 N, R 4 E, W.M.; 48° 42' 1.447" N, 122° 21' 53.141" W (heading), 48° 43' 12.152" N, 122° 21' 17.811" W (ending). Salish Sea: Sea; 14244.93 km² (5,500 mi²), extends from the mouth of the Strait of Juan de Fuca eastward and northward to include Puget Sound and Georgia Strait, and their associated bays, coves, and inlets; Named for the tribes of Washington State and First Nations of British Columbia that live on or close to the Salish Sea; Clallam County, Jefferson County, Island County, San Juan County, King County, Kitsap County, Pierce County, Snohomish County, Skagit County, Whatcom County, Thurston County, Mason County, WA; 49° 00' 00" N, 123° 00' 00" W (center of feature). Sisters Point: Cape; Located 4.82 km (3 mi) NE across Hood Canal from the town of Union; Named by Charles Wilkes in 1841; Mason County, WA; Sec. 26, 27, 34, 35, T 22 N, R 3 W, W.M.; 47° 21' 36.007" N, 123° 2' 10.678" W. Approved 7/2/2013.
Sultan Ridge: Ridge; Elevation 942 m (3,093 ft), located 8.04 km (5 mi) N of the town of Sultan; Named for the nearby town of Sultan; Snohomish County, WA; Sec 36, T 29 N, R 8 E, W.M.; 47° 57' 22.482" N, 121° 43' 54.476" W. Approved 2/5/2013.
Téemux Creek: Stream; 3.22 km (2 mi) long, heads 40.23 km (25 mi) SE of the town of Dayton, flows S/SE into Butte Creek; "téemux" is an [a] Umatilla word meaning "animal tracks"; Columbia County, WA; Sec. 7 & 18, T 6 N, R 41 E, W.M.; 46° 0' 35.219" N, 117° 43' 33.492" W (heading), 45° 59' 32.509" N, 117° 41' 48.312" W (ending). Tharald Pond: Lake; Located on the SW corner of Shaw Island; Named for Theodore (1851-1926) and Thomas (1854-1923) Tharald who homesteaded the property; San Juan County, WA; Sec. 32, T 36 N, R 2 W, W.M.; 48° 33' 46.703" N, 122° 58' 13.648" W. Approved 12/10/1993.
Tsoo Yess River: Stream; 23.33 km (14.5 mi) long, flows generally W then NW onto the Makah Indian Reservation to enter the Pacific Ocean at Makah Bay; Named after a Makah Tribe village that was near the mouth of the river; Clallam County, WA; Sec. 28, 29, 30, 33, T 32 N, R 14 W, Sec. 5, 8, 9, 10, 21, 22, 25, 26, 27, 28, 34, T 32 N, R 15 W, Sec. 28, 32, 33, T 33 N, R 15 W, W.M.; 48° 13' 37.974" N, 124° 29' 50.248" W (heading), 48° 19' 35.201" N, 124° 39' 33.482" W (ending). Wayback Brook: Stream; 91.44 m (300 ft) long, flows N into Echo Lake 9.65 km (6 mi) SW of the City of Monroe; Name is descriptive, as the stream starts "wayback" from the lake; Snohomish County, WA; Sec. 33, T 27 N, R 6 E, W.M.; 47° 46' 53.941" N, 122° 2' 46.328" W (heading), 47° 47' 4.059" N, 122° 3' 1.549" W (ending). Wenas Mammoth Mountain: Peak; 670.56 m (2200 ft) elevation, located 16.09 km (10 mi) NW of the City of Yakima; Named for mammoth bones found on the mountain; Yakima County, WA; Sec. 12, T 14 N, R 17 E, W.M.; 46° 42' 56.742" N, 120° 38' 31.051" W. Approved 7/2/2013.
