WSR 14-18-008 EMERGENCY RULES DEPARTMENT OF FISH AND WILDLIFE [Order 14-219—Filed August 21, 2014, 2:33 p.m., effective September 1, 2014, 8:00 p.m.] Effective Date of Rule: September 1, 2014, 8:00 p.m.
Purpose: Amend recreational fishing rules.
Citation of Existing Rules Affected by this Order: Repealing WAC 220-310-19500V.
Statutory Authority for Adoption: RCW 77.04.012, 77.04.020, and 77.12.047.
Under RCW 34.05.350 the agency for good cause finds that immediate adoption, amendment, or repeal of a rule is necessary for the preservation of the public health, safety, or general welfare, and that observing the time requirements of notice and opportunity to comment upon adoption of a permanent rule would be contrary to the public interest.
Reasons for this Finding: The majority of adult sockeye salmon in Lake Wenatchee will soon become unavailable to anglers due to their annual migration to the spawning grounds on the White and Little Wenatchee rivers. Sockeye condition and desirability will have declined drastically. This closure will further reduce unnecessary impacts to bull trout with such relatively few sockeye still being present in Lake Wenatchee. There is insufficient time to adopt permanent rules.
