Title or Subject: Medicaid State Plan Amendment (SPA) 15-0016 Elective Deliveries Less Than 39 Weeks.

Effective Date: October 1, 2015.

Description: The health care authority (the agency) intends to submit medicaid SPA 15-0016 to address elective deliveries under thirty-nine weeks. The agency will not reimburse physicians or hospitals for elective inductions performed before thirty-nine weeks of gestation. The intent of this policy is to promote the health of the child and the mother by preventing early deliveries that are not medically necessary.

At this time, the agency is unable to determine the fiscal impact this SPA might have on annual aggregate expenditures.
