WSR 17-17-004 EMERGENCY RULES DEPARTMENT OF FISH AND WILDLIFE [Filed August 3, 2017, 10:18 a.m., effective August 3, 2017, 10:18 a.m.] Effective Date of Rule: Immediately upon filing. Purpose: Amends coastal commercial crab rules. Citation of Rules Affected by this Order: Repealing WAC 220-340-42000C; and amending WAC 220-340-420. Under RCW 34.05.350 the agency for good cause finds that immediate adoption, amendment, or repeal of a rule is necessary for the preservation of the public health, safety, or general welfare, and that observing the time requirements of notice and opportunity to comment upon adoption of a permanent rule would be contrary to the public interest. Reasons for this Finding: This emergency rule is needed because the weekly landing limit is necessary to protect the coastal Dungeness crab resource by mitigating handling mortality from sorting soft shelled crab and is in conformity with the coastal Dungeness crab summer fishery management plan. There is insufficient time to promulgate permanent rules.
