PREPROPOSAL STATEMENT OF INQUIRY
CRIMINAL JUSTICE
TRAINING COMMISSION

Subject of Possible Rule Making: The addition of WAC 139-05-800 is needed so the Washington state criminal justice training commission (WSCJTC) is able to clearly identify the classification of reserve peace officers.
Statutes Authorizing the Agency to Adopt Rules on this Subject: RCW 43.101.080.
Reasons Why Rules on this Subject may be Needed and What They Might Accomplish: This new section outlines two classifications of reserve peace officers. By outlining the classification, stakeholders will have a clear understanding of the minimum training and supervision requirements for each classification of reserve peace officers.
Other Federal and State Agencies that Regulate this Subject and the Process Coordinating the Rule with These Agencies: WSCJTC regulates this process.
Process for Developing New Rule: Negotiated rule making; and commissioners will be advised of the proposed rule changes via email and will also be listed on the agency web site.
