Subject of Possible Rule Making: The state board of education (SBE) is reviewing chapter 180-08 WAC to make changes as necessary to align rule to current policy or practice, correct references to law, implement recently passed legislation, improve readability of the rule, or make other changes identified during the review. SBE will make amendments to align the public record request process outlined in chapter 180-08 WAC [to] conform to current practice for receiving and processing public records requests.

Reasons Why Rules on this Subject may be Needed and What They Might Accomplish: SBE will make amendments to align the public record request process outlined in chapter 180-08 WAC [to] conform to current practice for receiving and processing public records requests.
Other Federal and State Agencies that Regulate this Subject and the Process Coordinating the Rule with These Agencies: Office of superintendent of public instruction (OSPI). SBE staff will engage OSPI staff regarding these rule changes because the SBE follows OSPI business practices, including utilizing OSPI public records staff to coordinate public records requests.
