As per RCW 49.46.020, the department of labor and industries (L&I) resumes calculation of the 2021 Washington state's minimum wage based on the consumer price index for urban wage earners and clerical workers (CPI-W) index. Minimum wage adjustments between 2017 and 2020 were established by Initiative No. 1433 (2016) at specific dollar amounts and required no calculated adjustment for inflation.

L&I has calculated the adjusted minimum wage rate for 2021 to $13.69 per hour, effective January 1, 2021. This is a nineteen cent per hour increase from 2020.
