Title or Subject: Medicaid State Plan Amendment (SPA) 22-0002 Nurse Midwife Services.

Effective Date: January 1, 2022.

Description: The health care authority (HCA) intends to submit medicaid SPA 22-0002 to add information regarding nurse midwife services that was inadvertently omitted from Attachment 3.1-A section 17. The SPA will also update the reference to midwives to add "credentialed" to the language in 3.1-A as well as in the corresponding information in 3.1-B, as follows:

"Limited to facilities approved by the Medicaid Agency to provide the services, or in the case of home births, to clients and residences approved for the services. All credentialed midwives participating in home births are Agency approved."

SPA 22-0002 is a "housekeeping" action that does not change current practice or policy. It is therefore expected to have no effect on annual expenditures/reimbursement.

A copy of SPA 22-0002 is available for review. HCA would appreciate any input or concerns regarding this SPA.
