Effective Date of Rule: March 14, 2022.
Purpose: Closes commercial harvest in all Sea Urchin Districts.
Citation of Rules Affected by this Order: Repealing WAC 220-340-75000K.
Under RCW
34.05.350 the agency for good cause finds that immediate adoption, amendment, or repeal of a rule is necessary for the preservation of the public health, safety, or general welfare, and that observing the time requirements of notice and opportunity to comment upon adoption of a permanent rule would be contrary to the public interest.
Reasons for this Finding: This emergency rule closes harvest in all sea urchin districts. At this time, urchin spawning period is near its peak resulting in poor quality product for the market; while districts 1, 6, and 7 have green urchin quota remaining, all other districts have been closed as their quotas were reached. There is insufficient time to adopt permanent rules.
