Reasons Why Rules on this Subject may be Needed and What They Might Accomplish: This rule is needed to amend WAC 468-300-080 related to the ferry fare fuel surcharge for Washington state ferries (WSF). Amendments are expected to include: (1) Adding an approval for the fuel surcharge, and (2) updating the formula to reflect current WSF fuel purchasing practices.

The Washington state transportation commission works closely, and coordinates with the Washington state department of transportation in administering the surcharge calculation, developing fare setting proposals, and for carrying out the rule-making process for making ferry fare adjustments.
