NOTICE
Title or Subject: Medicaid State Plan Amendment (SPA) 23-0019 Pharmacy Update.
Effective Date: May 12, 2023.
Description: The health care authority (HCA) intends to submit medicaid SPA 23-0019 to add information addressing coverage of prescription drugs:

| • | For exceptions to the published preferred drug list if drug shortages occur. |
| • | When the federal Food and Drug Administration has issued an emergency use authorization and there is a state or federal military or potential military emergency, domestic or potential domestic emergency, public health or potential public health emergency, the Department of Homeland Security secretary issues a material threat determination. |
| • | When medically necessary. |
SPA 23-0019 is anticipated to have no effect on the aggregate payment, expenditures, or reimbursement for these services.
SPA 23-0019 is in the development process; therefore, a copy is not yet available for review. HCA would appreciate any input or concerns regarding this SPA.
