PREPROPOSAL STATEMENT OF INQUIRY
CHARTER SCHOOL COMMISSION

Subject of Possible Rule Making: Addition of complaint process consistent with ESB [ESHB] 1744.
Reasons Why Rules on this Subject may be Needed and What They Might Accomplish: ESB [ESHB] 1744 requires adoption of new rules or revisions to existing rules regarding complaint process implementation.
Other Federal and State Agencies that Regulate this Subject and the Process Coordinating the Rule with These Agencies: Both the state board of education and the office of superintendent of public instruction regulate areas that may be impacted by these rules. The charter school commission (commission) will solicit input from these agencies.
Process for Developing New Rule: Per ESHB 1744, chapter
28A.710 RCW, section 11 was added. The commission shall adopt or revise rules as necessary to implement this section.
