Title or Subject: Medicaid State Plan Amendment (SPA) 24-0031 Sole Community Hospital Rates.

Effective Date: July 1, 2024.

Description: The health care authority (HCA) intends to submit SPA 24-0031 to reduce the sole community hospital rate multiplier to 1.25 as required under RCW 74.09.5225 (3)(a). The Washington state legislature authorized an increased multiplier for sole community hospitals meeting certain criteria starting on July 1, 2018, and expiring on June 30, 2024. SPA 24-0031 reflects the reduced multiplier that will be effective July 1, 2024.

SPA 24-0031 is expected to decrease the annual aggregate payment/reimbursement/expenditures for inpatient and outpatient hospital services at sole community hospitals by approximately $6,777,000 per year.

SPA 24-0031 is under development. HCA would appreciate any input or concerns regarding this SPA.
