Title or Subject: Medicaid State Plan Amendment (SPA) 24-0042 Graduate Medical Education Funding.

Effective Date: July 10, 2024.

Description: The health care authority (HCA) intends to submit SPA 24-0042 to establish a multidisciplinary graduate medical education direct payment program for academic medical centers in the state of Washington. SPA 24-0042 will provide for reimbursement of the medicaid cost of maintaining a medical education program, funded by intergovernmental transfer.

SPA 24-0032 is expected to increase annual aggregate payment/reimbursement/expenditures by $56,123,000.

SPA 24-0032 is under development. HCA would appreciate any input or concerns regarding this SPA.
