City of Fircrest's Notice of Intent to Apply for Alternative Density and Action Approach
The Washington state department of commerce (commerce) received a notice of intent on February 19, 2025, from the City of Fircrest, consistent with the Growth Management Act (GMA) requirements within RCW 36.70A.635 - [36.070A.]638. Commerce has assigned case # 2025-C-427 for this request.
Fircrest's notice of intent contained the following:
Certification/approval request
Cover letter
Application materials including:
oIdentification of the ordinances, resolutions, and plans supporting the timeline extension.
oMap of affected area.
oA summary of the analysis that is to be performed and its status.
Fircrest's 30-day notice of intent was accepted by commerce on February 20, 2025, which requested the following:
Under RCW 36.70A.635(4):
oAlternative density approach: Timeline extension for areas lacking infrastructure capacity.
oAlternative density approach: Excluding lots exceeding 25 percent.
Under RCW 36.70.636 (3)(b) and (c):
oAlternative action approval: Substantially similar.
oAlternative action approval: Significant reduction or elimination of single-family zones.
