Subject of Possible Rule Making: The department of social and health services (department) is planning amendments to WAC 388-487-0010 What is the sun bucks program?, 388-487-0020 Is my child eligible for sun bucks?, 388-487-0030 General information about sun bucks benefits, and other related rules as may be needed.
Reasons Why Rules on this Subject may be Needed and What They Might Accomplish: Planned amendments are necessary for the continued implementation and ongoing management of the sun bucks program. The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) approved Washington's plan of maintenance and operation to operate sun bucks to assist eligible children who do not have access to regular free or reduced-price school meals during the 2025 summer period. If applicable, these amendments will make additional changes required to improve clarity, update policy, or better align rule language with state and federal law or regulations.
Other Federal and State Agencies that Regulate this Subject and the Process Coordinating the Rule with These Agencies: USDA FNS. USDA FNS approved Washington's plan of maintenance and operation to operate sun bucks to assist eligible children during the 2025 summer period.
