BACKGROUND:
The state's only dental residency program, at the University of Washington, offers dental school graduates advanced training in general dentistry and oral surgery. These dental residents actually practice dentistry in connection with the requirements of the residency program. The Board of Dental Examiners currently has no authority to grant licenses to dental residents.
SUMMARY:
Upon the request of the dean of the University of Washington Dental School, the board is authorized to grant a limited license to university residents in post-graduate dental education to practice dentistry in connection with their duties. The limited license is renewable annually.
