BACKGROUND:

 

Claims for payment submitted by chiropractors for rendering health services to beneficiaries of third-party payors (insurers) may be reviewed for appropriateness by the payor. There is a belief that these reviews should be conducted by licensed, practicing chiropractors in accordance with accepted standards of care, with the assurance of thoroughness and fairness, and should not be influenced by considerations of remuneration.

 

SUMMARY:

 

The Chiropractic Disciplinary Board is directed to establish a registration system and develop and enforce standards for the education, qualifications, and training of chiropractors who issue professional opinions on the condition, prognosis, or treatment of a patient.
