BACKGROUND:

 

In 1986 a measure was passed that required automobile insurers operating in the State of Washington to offer a premium discount to all Washington licensed drivers who (1) are 55 years of age or older, and (2) successfully complete a motor vehicle accident prevention course approved by the Department of Licensing.

 

The premium reductions associated with completion of the course are applicable for a two-year period.

 

SUMMARY:

 

The time period for premium reductions shall be extended from two to three years upon completion of an approved accident prevention course.
