BACKGROUND:

 

Current state law prohibits age discrimination in employment against anyone between the ages of 40 and 70.  Instances of discrimination against persons over age 70 have been reported, with no remedy available under state law.

 

Federal law prohibits age discrimination in employment against anyone over age 40.

 

SUMMARY:

 

Age discrimination in employment is prohibited against anyone, regardless of age.
