BACKGROUND:

 

Current law provides that county jurors may receive up to $25 per day for jury service.

 

It is suggested that the rate of jury compensation be increased to at least the state minimum wage.

 

SUMMARY:

 

Employers with ten or more employees are required to pay a regular salary to full-time employees during their jury service.

 

Counties are required to pay at least the state minimum wage to those jurors who do not fall within the provisions of this proposal.

 

EFFECT OF PROPOSED SUBSTITUTE:

 

The requirement that employers pay a regular salary to full-time employees during their jury serviced is deleted.
