BACKGROUND:

 

Under current law no leave provision is made for state civil and higher education employees who are in training or on call as volunteer fire fighters, law enforcement officers, search and rescue team members, or emergency medical technicians.

 

SUMMARY:

 

All higher education institutions shall provide paid leave for employees subject to Chapter 28B.16 RCW who are volunteers as listed above, when in training or on call.  All state agencies and departments shall provide paid leave for employees subject to Chapter 41.06 RCW who are volunteers as listed above, when in training or on call.
