Brief Description:  Exempting dependents of persons employed in Washington state from nonresident tuition and fees.

BACKGROUND:

 

Presently, dependents of individuals who come to the state of Washington, or are transferred to the state, due to fulltime employment with a Washington employer are required to establish domicile for one year in the state prior to becoming eligible to be considered a resident for state tuition and fees purposes. 

 

SUMMARY:

 

Dependents of parents or guardians who reside in the state of Washington and who entered the state as a result of fulltime employment with an employer in this state or transfer by his or her employer are exempted from paying the nonresident tuition and fee differential.  The dependent is required to present a signed statement from his or her parent's or guardian's employer certifying that the parent or guardian entered the state as a result of the employment to qualify for the exemption.
