BACKGROUND:

 

Current state law sets forth the procedures that all state and local agencies must follow in their procurement of professional architectural and engineering services.  It imposes public notice requirements and contains provisions governing the evaluation of and contracting for such professional services.  It further requires that agencies provide opportunities for minority and women-owned firms to provide these services.

 

SUMMARY:

 

Statutory requirements regarding agency procurement of architectural and engineering services are to be applicable to political subdivisions of the state only insofar as such services are required for public works exceeding $15,000.  Public works is to have the meaning given in RCW 39.04.010, the public works statute.
