BACKGROUND:

 

To become lawfully married, a couple must apply to a county auditor for a marriage license.  As a part of the process, applicants must make and file an affidavit showing (sic) that they are not afflicted with any contagious venereal disease and that they are the age of 18 years or over.

 

SUMMARY:

 

Applicants for a marriage license must make and file an affidavit showing that each has had a test of his or her blood for the detection of AIDS/HIV and syphilis within 30 days immediately prior to the date of the application and that each is aware of the test results of the other applicant.
